Audi A9 Concept
As of late, car manufacturers are designing and engineering 4-door vehicles with coupe-like profiles. Cars like the 2011 Jaguar XJ I posted yesterday, the recently unveiled BMW Gran Coupe and Mercedes Benz F800 Concept cars, and many others are all aimed at the high-end luxury saloons.
A look into the future, a spanish designer named DaniGarcia have come up with his own version of what Audi might have in store for us with his Audi A9 Concept.
The A9 is a 4-door concept car proposal for a luxury sports saloon, featuring similar design language as the current Audi models.
The front end is very R8-like but with thinner, much more squinted LED headlamps.
The rear quarter shot features similar Audi taillamps in the current Audi models for consistency.
The Side Profile shows an elegant sloping shape of the green house. Very low with the extra set of rear doors almost blending into the rear quarter of the car.
As quoted from diseno-art, the styling of the A9 concept was partially inspired by the stunning architectural style of Santiago Calatrava’s buildings in “La Ciudad de las Artes y de las Ciencias” (The City of Arts and Sciences) in Garcia’s hometown of Valencia. This influence can be seen in the clean flowing lines of the vehicle and futuristic styling features. Calatrava’s buildings look like they come from 100 years in the future, and so does this.
Contrary to my latest Audi R8 GT Spyder rendering, this particular Audi Concept actually makes more sense. Although some of the images reminds me a bit of the BMW Vision Efficient Dynamic Concept, especially the setting, Audi can use a high end sporty 4-dr to compete with competitor’s upcoming models. And this A9 Concept seems to fit the bill.
