Nissan announced today that domestic orders for the new Nissan Juke crossover have greatly exceeded the company’s expectations. The Juke was introduced to the Japanese market exactly a month ago from today and has book 10,943 orders to date. That’s more than eight times greater than the company’s monthly sales target of 1,300.

“With JUKE, Nissan ushers in a new genre of vehicles, the compact sports crossover. It combines the agility of a compact sports car with the security and toughness of an SUV,” Nissan said in a statement. “JUKE has attracted a wide range of customers with its high environmental performance that complies with the tax exemption for environmentally friendly vehicles, as well as for its affordable price range.”
