2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS
Mercedes-Benz has released the official details and images of the new 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS which will make its public debut at the 2010 Paris Motor Show from October 2 – 17. The CLS will arrive in U.S. dealership in mid-2011.
At the exterior, the 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS features long hood, tightly-styled frame-less side windows and a dynamic roof sweeping back at an angle towards the rear. The CLS has its front design which has similar look as the SLS AMG while its front grille is not integrated into the hood but formed separately.
Other feature includes full LED headlamps with the total of 71 LED’s which are separated into three arrow-shaped layers from top to bottom. The upper layer contains an LED turn indicator, a striking LED side light that offers LED low beam at the bottom while the side light can also be seen when the high beam is activated. The lowest level of the headlamps features the main beam and night view functions.
Inside, the CLS wrap-around dashboard sweeping from the driver’s door over the instrument panel support and across to the front passenger door, a mixture of satin and high-gloss finishes used on the metal surfaces, matte galvanized air vents, high-gloss-trimmed analogue clock, hand stitched leather seat covers and dashboard.
The CLS also features high-quality-trim elements located on the instrument panels, center console and door linings where customers can choose between high-gloss brown burl walnut or high-gloss black ash. Black piano lacquer or carbon fiber trim elements are also available.
What has not been officially unveiled are the powertrains but the 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS is reported to be available in two different petrol engines, the 3.5-liter V6 for the base CLS 350 while the CLS 550 is powered by a 4.6-liter V8 engine that produces 430 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque.
