Alfa Romeo Montreal Concept
The Alfa Romeo Montreal concept is a creation of Karl Sanders, a design student at Coventry University currently completing his final year.
The Montreal concept was inspired by the original Bertone styled Alfa Romeo Montreal which was introduced at the Expo 67 held in Montreal. The original car was not actually called the Montreal but due to the location of its unveiling the name stayed with the car throughout its lifetime.
The Montreal concept is based on the current GM/Fiat Premium platform which is used by the Alfa Romeo Brera and Alfa Romeo 159. The concept was specially designed as a show car for Alfa Romeo when they reintroduce the brand to America in 2011 as Alfa Romeo have not been in the American market since 1995.
Just like the original car the Montreal concept features distinctive and unique styling elements including a deeply recessed and blacked-out grille and headlight unit, louvers above the headlights, an upward sweeping window line at the rear of the door, and parallel vents integrated into the rear wheel arches. At the rear both the original and the concept share a simple and uncluttered layout, however for the concept Montreal Sanders has replaced the square taillights with sleek circular units which give the car a more contemporary appearance.
