Lexus Premium Compact Concept
Lexus, Toyota’s luxury division, has released its first official teaser of its Premium Compact Concept which will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show on 15 September 2009.
According to Lexus, the Lexus Premium Compact Concept will demonstrate a mix of technical innovation and ground-breaking design that promises to raise the bar in the premium compact segment.
The Compact will most likely to be an entry-level model for Lexus and will come with a hybrid powertrain that is used on the Lexus HS 250h.
Lexus HS 250h uses 2.4-liter four-cylinder Atkinson engine mated to a 40 hp electric motor to produce 187 hp.
According to some reports on the internet, the Lexus Premium Compact will use Toyota Corolla chassis and also some technologies from Toyota Auris.
The production version of the Compact is expected to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show next year in March and will be on sale in Europe by the middle of next year. The Lexus Compact is unlikely to enter the North American market.
